[English]

Food security continues to pose significant challenges globally, with population growth, climate variability, and environmental constraints placing unprecedented pressure on agricultural systems. Scientific evidence demonstrates that genetically modified crops offer viable solutions to these challenges through enhanced productivity traits, including improved yield potential, abiotic stress tolerance, and reduced agrochemical inputs. Meta-analyses of field trial data consistently show yield advantages of 6-30% for major GM crops compared to conventional varieties, alongside significant reductions in pesticide applications. Despite these documented benefits, public acceptance of GM technology remains hindered by persistent misinformation. Systematic reviews of safety research, encompassing thousands of studies, have found no credible evidence of adverse health effects from approved GM crops. Regulatory agencies worldwide, including EFSA, FDA, and Codex Alimentarius, employ rigorous science-based evaluation protocols that consistently confirm the safety of commercially available GM varieties. This analysis examines the disconnect between scientific consensus and public perception through three key dimensions: empirical performance data from two decades of commercial cultivation, comparative analysis of international regulatory approaches, and critical evaluation of prevalent misinformation narratives. The findings underscore the importance of evidence-based discourse in agricultural policy formulation, particularly as climate change intensifies production challenges. Effective science communication emerges as a crucial factor in realizing the potential of agricultural biotechnology to contribute to sustainable food security objectives while maintaining rigorous safety standards. The weight of scientific evidence supports the conclusion that responsible deployment of GM crops represents a valuable tool for addressing contemporary agricultural challenges within appropriate regulatory frameworks.
